About Whitsunday Schoolies Week

In 2007, approximately 2700 school leavers attended Schoolies in the Whitsundays, making it one of the most popular Schoolies destinations in Queensland. Read some of the feedback provided by last year's Schoolies on our 2007 Feedback page.

A comprehensive safety and activity program has been developed and refined over the years, creating a Schoolies experience that offers enjoyment and safety for young people celebrating the completion of Year 12.

Planning for Schoolies in the Whitsundays is carried out by a Schoolies Week Committee, which is made up of representatives from the Whitsunday Regional Council, the Queensland Police Service, Queensland Health, and Education Queensland.  Since 1998 these locals have worked tirelessly along with many volunteers to provide a comprehensive Schoolies program that gives school leavers an experience to remember and their parents some peace of mind.  Each year the program is thoroughly evaluated, with the results being used to make improvements the following year.

To receive the most from their Schoolies experience, it is recommended that Schoolies register for the minimal fee.  For more information on the benefits of registering and how to register, see the Registration page.

The Schoolies Week Committee aims to provide a safe and enjoyable Schoolies experience.
